VINTAGE Ludwig 1960's Classic Outfit in Black Cortex

  Single owner kit. The kit consists of a consecutive serial number “Classic Outfit” of 22/13/16 with an additional 14” which is pre-serial. The serial numbers on the “Classic” portion of the kit date the drums to around 64, with the 14” floor tom likely being a 63. The drums are a rewrap, but have been done remarkably well with what appears to be original Ludwig Black Cortex of the period. The 14” floor tom would have had the earlier leg brackets, which were substituted for of era brackets to match the kit. Per the owner, the drums were bought together at the store, and it can be assumed the rewrap was done either prior to purchase or post purchase by the buyers request. The only other modifications to the drums besides the wrap, is the installation of the 60’s era Ludwig bass drum plate, and the holes from the factory bass drum cymbal holder and rail consolette being plugged, with the paint touched up using original Ludwig white paint. The plugged holes from the bass drum cymbal mount can be noticed, however we had to hunt to find the plugged and painted over consolette holes. This was certainly either done at the store of purchase at Ludwig, per order of the store. The 13” and 16” toms both have red felt baseball bat mufflers, while the 14” tom has a knob muffler. The kit is in wonderful condition, with the only downside being a wrap crack across the face of the 13” tom. Despite this, it hides well due to the wrap color.
