VINTAGE 1959-60 Ludwig Transition Badge Drum Set in Sky Blue Pearl w/ Matching Downbeat Snare

- Unique and pristine. The kind of drum set one thinks of when imagine band stages of the late 1940's to mid 1950's. This is a two owner kit, in near flawless condition, with intensely unique and fitting for the time mojo. The set consists of a factory 12x20 bass drum, two 8x12 toms on rail mounts, a 14x14 floor tom, and the coveted 4x14 downbeat snare. All drums except the second 8x12 tom are Transition Badge drums with clear interiors. According to the owner the kit was purchased as the 20/12/14/14 configuration with a few unique custom requests - a 12x20 bass drum, a center mount for a small splash, a key holder installed on the 4x14 Downbeat snare, and two top tone controls for the 14" tom for extra muffling. These were allegedly all done at the factory per his custom order. He would later order an additional 8x12 tom built out to be a right hand drum with another rail mount, which per his claim was done at Ludwig, making it a factory addition to the kit. By this time, Ludwig had just moved to white painted interiors and had already established the classic Keystone badge. The set had a WFL/early Ludwig bass drum cymbal mount in the ride position per catalog prior to this which had to be removed to not obstruct the second tom, the holes were filled with the original mounting bolts. All non traditional specifications to this kit were done with beautiful precision, again hinting to the authenticity of these being factory specs. The drums all have original Ludwig heads and the snares have original wires. The drums play beautifully, being able to tune high and low with ease, and can be played open or closed due to the mufflers.
