VINTAGE 1960 Gretsch Round Badge 6-ply Name Band Outfit in Copper Mist

• Details & Notes: That true 60's "Golden Era" Great Gretsch Sound, professionally re-lacquered in a tribute to one of the rarest finishes in the catalog. Produced for a limited time, Copper Mist and Cadillac Green have become legend not only in the Gretsch world, but the general drumming world when it comes to discussing rare finishes. Unfortunately often when an example is found, it is an orphan in terrible condition, or an entire kit that has seen much better days. This kit, though featuring some "Player" features, is in over all great condition and is complete minus a modification or fix here or there. Professionally re-lacquered some time ago in a very convincing Copper Mist with a slight glass sparkle, this kit has all of that Copper Mist majesty without the pain of hunting down an intact unicorn. There are some very minor scratches and a hairline lacquer crack on the 13" tom. The re-lacquering was likely done at Modern Drum Shop based on the history of the kit and similar schematic changes we have seen from other Modern Drum Shop refinishes and mods. Regarding mods, the Walburg rail mount and Pratt bass drum muffler being removed, the holes being plugged, and a center MIJ rail mount being installed for easier tom positioning, a common occurrence with many old Gretsch kits, as 50s and 60s rail placement was very far to the side, making comfortable positioning of the mounted tom difficult. The bass drum hoops are unoriginal replacements, but look at home on the kit. The only other notes to point out on this kit, is one bass drum leg wing nut has been replaced with a substitute, and the snare drum Micro Sensitive strainer arm is unoriginal, though the internal mechanisms are all original. A simple swap of the arm will return it to originality. The Gretsch snare wires have also been replaced with Pearl wires. All drums are six ply with silver sealer, and only the 13" tom has a paper tag. Tuning is a breeze on these drums, and they sit at home in both low tunings and high bop tunings. All mufflers work perfectly and all die cast hoops are original.
