Details & Notes: A refinished set of Premier in a custom piano lacquer cherry gloss. The set is in overall great shape and sounds excellent. It consists of a 20" bass drum, 10" and 12" toms, and a 14" floor tom. The bass drum has natural lacquer hoops, which is likely the original color of the set. There are some quirks that add a bit of interest and mystery. Though one of the badges on the 10” tom says “Resonator” no inner shells are present leading us to believe that this was either a Projector set that never had the inner shells and that a Resonator badge was attached later, or that this was a Resonator either ordered without the inner shells or that the inner shells were removed later. set ordered without the inner shells, or that owned by someone who removed the inner shells. The 10" tom with the Resonator badge appears to have had two larger grommet Premier badges, one of which is present and one is missing, so it is also possible this tom was added to the original set later. The 12" tom has a small grommet badge. It looks like when the drum was reassembled that it was put back together upside down as the tone control holes are on the bottom of the drum. One could always flip the drum, as the badge is slightly loose and will turn. The smaller hole for the tone control has been slightly lacquered over in the refinishing process, but could easily be opened. The 14" Tom has lost its badge but also had a smaller grommet badge. Tone control is missing, with the smaller hole being somewhat lacquered over as well. The bass drum is in over all great shape, with all T-rods working smoothly. The double tom holder has one unoriginal L-arm. All drums have slotted tension rods, except for the resonant side of the floor tom and a few of the tension rods on the 10" tom. The net result of all these oddities is a great-sounding, good-looking one-of-a-kind vintage Premier set at a terrific price.
