VINTAGE 1888 French 7x13 Brass Rope Tension Parade Snare Drum

• Vintage Snare Drum. 

• Size: 7x13 (Please note - This drum is from an era where shell sizes and head sizes were approximate. As such this is not a true 13" diameter shell, but slightly over sized. 

• Details & Notes: This beautiful piece of history is absolutely more of a collector's item or showpiece, however in the right hands instrument will absolutely be playable. Likely brass shell, but possibly copper. Rope tension with eleven leather slides for tensioning, all of which are in good condition as is the rope. Both heads are in good shape, though there is a minor hole in the bottom head that seems to be just the result of age. Two gut snare strands are present. Strainer is functional. The drum looks to have been built in Paris. Builder seems to be named Jean Dhondt, or Vercruysse & Dhondt.
