VINTAGE 1950s-60s Slingerland Radioking in Gold Sparkle

• Details & Notes: A wonderful oddball kit! These drums show maybe a few signs of separate eras, notably the presence of a later 60's badge on the floor. Despite this, the floor tom legs match up with being a 50's drum, and could have just gotten the badge late if these were compiled from left overs to fulfill an order. The even fade of the gold sparkle wrap definitely supports this. Both toms have the oversized, large, blocky reinforcement rings typical of late 40's and early 50's Slingerland shells. The bass drum has the more modest style re-rings. Most hardware dates to be 50's Slingerland, though some are replacements such as the t-rods which are Ludwig. Bass drum hoops are unoriginal and are just generic matte black hoops. The bass drum rail consolette was moved at one point to the center panel of the bass drum, leaving two extra holes which have been filled via bolts. Both bottom tom hoops are triple flanged hoops and are unoriginal to the kit. The floor tom legs are Camco, an oddly welcome surprise. The rail consolette hexbolt is not present, and has been replaced with a hardware store bolt, making the piece really not usable unless the correct parts are installed. Despite all the oddities, this is a killer sounding kit with a lot of story. Check out that cool retro Evans Hard Rock mirror gold resonant head too!
