VINTAGE 30's Slingerland Pre-Radio King 2ply Tom Set in Sparkling Gold Pearl

All three drums (13", 14", and 16") are 2-ply Slingerland shells. They likely pre-date the Radio King drums slightly, dating them to the early 30s. All three originally had tacked bottom heads. There are numerous surface cracks in the finish, however the wrap is in very good shape for the age other than the cracks in the clear surface. Both the model 1420 14" and model 1400 16" toms were built with tunable top heads and tacked bottom heads and feature original #968 tube lugs designed originally for snare drums. Both of these style drums can be seen in the 1936 catalog. The 9x13" tom was originally tacked on both the top and the bottom, but otherwise appears to be a #1440 tom. This drum went through a series of modifications. At some point, the drum was converted to a tunable drum like the others. Original lugs are not rpesent, and the drum has been redrilled for modern 1.5" tube lugs.
The 1936 Slingerland catalog features a short-lived contraption called a model 1000 Pax-All Console, which would have supported these drums. This was an early rolling drum rack. Drums were mounted to the pax-all console using rods that ran completely through the shell to support the drum on the console. Both of these drums were mounted using these tom-tom rods, and the holes remain. Unfortunately, the tom-tom rods and the pax-all console are long-gone.
